Rajon Rondo, a two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion, will be remembered as one of the most talented and exciting players in the history of the league and a player who brought a winning mentality on the court.
That the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA championship was largely due to the performances of Rondo, who mashed well with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the court. In fact, his 105 assists in the playoffs are the most by a bench player in a single postseason since the 1971 playoffs, surpassing Manu Ginobili’s 95 assists in 2014.
In the inaugural episode of his new podcast, which premiered on Tuesday, NBA legend, LeBron James praised Rondo’s high basketball IQ, claiming that along with his ball-handling skills, it was his IQ which made him special.
“Rajon Rondo, for sure. He can process flip, do things on the go, like that. It’s very weird to me that he is not coaching at a high level. I think it's because he doesn’t want to do it. It is a lot, it is a lot and who wants to deal with all these rich entitled guys all the time? It’s just a weird thing, man, it’s just a weird thing,” LeBron stated.
It is surprising that Rondo has not chosen to utilize his talents in coaching, especially considering his exceptional basketball IQ and situational awareness.
In addition to winning two NBA championships, the 38-year-old was also a three-time league assists leader, a one-time league steals leader, and earned four NBA All-Star nominations during his illustrious career.
